The Digital Farm Stand: Point, Click, Eat with Farmgram
The last year of life has flown by for Tessa Salzman, but she still vividly remembers meeting her now-partners Tyler and Adrian on an overcast Tuesday in the fall as they strolled to the farmers market on Broad Street.
They connected through their passion for local food and the desire to share the abundance of flavors that define the San Luis Obispo community.
The three found common ground in their love of panning for farm stands on the weekends—those golden gems that sparkle in the rural San Luis Obispo landscape. Among the crisp, freshly harvested produce and the delectable goods made by local artisans, they discovered the richest eggs, surprising vegetables and irresistible, unique breads and cheeses absent from farmers market and grocery stores. These stands are truly gold mines for local food.
Inspired, they began searching for a way to share these treasures with friends and neighbors who didn’t have the time or energy to discover it themselves. Together, they began to conjure up an online farmers market that would deliver the farm stand flavor to anyone and everyone in San Luis Obispo.
Now all that’s between you and the unique flavor of San Luis Obispo is a quick click of the mouse on the Farmgram website. They offer an easy, convenient way to shop for over 100 locally produced items. You customize your order with what you love to eat, and they will do the shopping and delivery.
Farmgram’s mission is to strengthen the local community’s connection to food by providing a transparent story about where and how each item is produced along with tips on how to prepare, share, enjoy and use all of it. For the emerging foodie, they are bundling seasonal DIY meal kits that include a recipe and all the ingredients you need to make 100% locally sourced meals at home.
As Farmgram grows, they are cultivating a space that bridges farmers, specialty food makers, caterers, chefs, bloggers, local businesses and consumers. Farmgram is a venue for showcasing and selling the goods of local producers 24/7.
Be a friend, help a friend. In partnership with the San Luis Coastal Unified School District, the Friends of Farmgram program matches families who have limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables with community members who wish to sponsor the purchase of a Farmgram box.
