- 1 whole, ripe Bartlett pear
- 1 cinnamon stick
- ½ whole nutmeg
- 1 piece organic orange zest (without any white pith)
- 3 cups vodka or neutral spirit
- 1 cup sugar
Place the pear in a sterilized widemouthed, 2-pint Mason jar along with the spices and zest. Pour vodka over all. Set aside for 1 month, then add the sugar, reseal and shake the jar. Leave alone for 4 months, shaking from time to time, before serving. Keeps (and grows more mature in avor) for up to 2 years.
