Nana Rose's Dressing

This is a fairly simple Thanksgiving stuffing recipe for you that is a favorite in my family. The recipe is from my great-grandma, "Nanny Rose." Her parents were from Naples, Italy (though she was born in New Jersey) and my great-grandpa, her husband, was born in Sicily, so we have a lot of Italian flavors in our family holiday dishes.

Break up sausage and beef in pan until all the meat is in small pieces. Brown and let cool.

Add ricotta and Parmesan cheeses, parsley and eggs and stir until the whole thing is mixed. Add breadcrumbs, raisins. Add sugar, salt and pepper to taste and mix again. I like it a little on the sweet side.

Grease oven bowl with cooking spray, place mixture in bowl and put in 350° oven for about 45 minutes, or until it appears cooked through.

  • ½ pound Italian sausage (I like hot)
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup chopped parsley
  • 2 eggs, stirred
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup raisins
  • Sugar
  • Salt and pepper
